CYSA Coaching Requirements
All coaches (both head and assistant) must complete the following steps to be eligible to coach:
1) Background Check (Every 2 Years)
Submit a Background Check request online every two years. If you completed one last year, you do not need to submit again this year. New coaches must complete this step online.

2) Concussion Training (Every 3 Years)
Complete an online concussion course every three years. Ohio allows two options:
If you submitted a certificate in the last two years, you do not need to take it again this year. New coaches must complete one of these courses and upload the certificate online.
3) SafeSport Training (Every 2 Years)
Required by law to help prevent and report child abuse in youth sports. The training covers:
- Sexual Misconduct Awareness
- Emotional & Physical Misconduct
- Mandatory Reporting
Completion Steps:
- Obtain an access code from your Division Coordinator.
- Complete the SafeSport Training online.
- Save the certificate as a PDF and upload it online.
4) Coaches Code of Ethics (Annually)
Every coach must sign and submit the Coaches Code of Ethics form every year.
Upload the completed form online.
5) Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training (Annually)
Complete the following steps:
